Seymours on Lydiard is proud to announce that we have been nominated for the 2011 Golden Plate Award for Ballarat. 

The golden plate awards guide to excellence in hospitality

There are over 500 restaurants, hotels and cafes within the Geelong-Otway and Ballarat Regions of Victoria, but few get the recognition they deserve.

This is the mission of the golden plate awards program - to give reliable information to consumers based on up to date independent expert reviews so that they can find great dining experiences and value for money whether they are looking for cafes, pub food, or something more sophisticated.

Introduced in 2003 in the Geelong-Otway Region from 2011 the the golden plate awards will also recognise and promote excellence in the Ballarat and surrounding regions (including Daylesford and Hepburn Springs). These two regions will be judged separately in 2011.

The awards involve a rigorous, objective and independently audited competition that begins in late March and involves at least two reviews conducted by independent media based reviewers from outside the region headed up by Rita Erlich (former Editor of the Age Good Food Guide who was recognised as an "industry legend" at the 2010 Melbourne Wine and Food Festval).

Restaurants, hotels and cafes that wish to get involved must first be nominated by their customers.

The golden plate awards program includes industry forums, promotions, and the highlights are the gals awards presentation night in late October in Ballarat and November in Geelong at which Finalists and Winners are announced.
